There are those who simply can't get enough of the great outdoors, making plans to go canoeing, camping, hiking, and hunting in their every spare moment. At the same time, you will also find people who enjoy learning about nature and even like to spend quality time in their yards, but only when weather conditions are ideal. There is a way for you to spend more time feeling the breeze, enjoying the sun, and taking part in nature without leaving your home.

Decks And Covered Porches

Decks and porches are extensions of home living structures that provide some protection from the elements. Decks are traditionally built on the back of homes, and unlike sunrooms, they are not closed in by four walls. These elevated platforms are great for reading, grilling, entertaining, and quiet enjoyment, and they can be customized to your tastes.

Covered front porches can be left open and held up with pillars or support beams so that you can look out around your without anything blocking your viewed. Enclosed front porches are more similar to sunrooms in that they have walls that close them in, but they usually have traditional windows which open and close.

Seeing All Your Surroundings With Sunrooms

Like their name suggests, sunrooms allow people to be kissed by the sun when the sky is clear during daylight hours. Sunrooms typically have windows that can be cranked open or closed or  that even open up like mini blinds. What sunrooms have that neither decks nor covered front porches offer are a large number of windows.

You can use a sunroom all year long, whether it is snowing outside, raining steadily, or beautiful and sunny, yet still be comfortable as you would in any other room in your home. You don't have to be affected by the outside elements if you don't want to be, and when the mood suits you, all of the windows can be opened up so that you are able to experience as much or as little wind, sun, and humidity as you'd like.

Some people enjoy sunrooms immensely when they are no longer able to spend a lot of time outdoors because of health concerns or even because of advancing age. If you are recovering from an injury but you are not yet well enough to go out into the garden, sitting in your sunroom will remind you of all there is to experience beyond your home.
